Mont St. Michel, Loire Valley

Emerging from the mist like a mirage, Mont Saint-Michel stood as a testament to nature and faith intertwined. This eighth-century commune, born of legend and divine intervention, was our first stop. As the story goes, the Archangel Michael commanded the construction of a sanctuary on this rocky islet, a decree that birthed a pilgrimage site of unparalleled beauty.

Our ascent began with a bus ride across the causeway, a journey that unfolded a panorama of the bay. The climb to the summit was an adventure in itself, a test of endurance rewarded with breathtaking vistas. The reward? A medieval marvel that seemed to touch the heavens.

To make this day even more extraordinary, it marked our 25th wedding anniversary. In a small, intimate ceremony, we renewed our vows, hearts filled with gratitude and love. Making our way back down to the bay, we savored a delightful lunch at L' Auberge Saint-Pierre where Rhiannon's first taste of a crepe was met with enthusiastic approval. A charming post office provided the perfect opportunity to send a postcard home, a tangible memory stamped with the date of our wedding.

Our journey continued to the Loire Valley, where a sumptuous dinner awaited at L'Univers in Tours. The evening was made truly magical by our tour guide, Ana, who surprised us with a celebratory glass of champagne. As we raised our glasses, we toasted to love, adventure, and the enduring magic of Mont Saint-Michel.
